Student Employment
The LGBTQ+SC hires a team of student workers to help influence and carry out the work of the Center each year. Please see below for a list of our current undergraduate and graduate student worker positions as well as information about our weekly program and affinity space facilitators.

The LGBTQ+SC is hiring a Graphic Design Student Assistant for the 2023-2024 academic year. Apply here by Friday, March 31st.
Undergraduate Postions
- Facilitate weekly affinity spaces
- Work with Center Supervisor to create, implement, and assess one-time events
- Incorporate accessibility and universal design best practices into all events and programs
- Collaborate with student orgs & campus partners on intersectional programming
- Help staff LGBTQ+SC and SEIP signature events (SEIP Welcome, LGBTQ+SC Open Houses, Lavender Celebration, etc)
- Lead LGBTQ+SC Orientation events, introducing new students to LGBTQ+SC programs and resources
- Assess affinity spaces, workshops, intersectional programs, and desired LGBTQ+ student programs
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the Center Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- Check LGBTQ+SC email – respond to inquiries or forward messages where appropriate
- Maintain inventory lists of LGBTQ+SC lounge and office supplies
- Create weekly EngageSC LGBTQ+SC attendance swipe link
- Scan event sign in sheets and upload to Google Drive folder
- Schedule student workers/volunteers & maintain LGBTQ+SC calendar
- Send biweekly timesheet reminders to student workers
- Archive LGBTQ+SC materials
- Assist with LGBTQ+SC student staff onboarding
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the Center Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- Manage LGBTQ+SC social media accounts
- Promote the LGBTQ+SC’s events and programs through email, website, social media
- Ensure all LGBTQ+SC digital content is accessible (screen-reader compliant, uses alt-text, provides image descriptions, etc)
- Search for, generate, and post educational materials and resources on the Center’s website and social media accounts
- Assemble & send out the LGBTQ+SC’s weekly newsletter
- Track social media analytics & digital engagement
- Monitor the Center’s social media communication
- Outreach to student orgs and campus partners to advertise LGBTQ+SC events on their platforms and promote relevant student org/campus partner opportunities on LGBTQ+SC platforms
- Update & maintain LGBTQ+SC website
- Outreach to QuASA/Rainbow Floor/student orgs/campus partners to advertise on their social media accounts/listservs, etc
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the Center Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- Create flyers for events and programs that align with accessibility best practices
- Develop LGBTQ+SC branding and marketing materials
- Update LGBTQ+SC resource guides
- Adhere to USC Identity Guidelines
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the Center Supervisor

- Organize, implement, and staff tabling opportunities for the LGBTQ+SC at campus events and programs
- Develop education and outreach materials relevant to specific intersectional communities
- Staff Admissions/campus partner outreach events for perspective & incoming students
- Coordinate and train outreach volunteers
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the Center Supervisor

Graduate Positions
- Coordinate Peer Mentoring Program
- Organize and implement graduate student programming
- Help Center Supervisor coordinate Lavender Celebration
- Plan and lead large events
- Facilitate weekly affinity space
- Co-facilitate educational trainings
- Conduct assessment, analyze data, and create assessment reports
- Assist with staffing the LGBTQ+SC front desk, greeting visitors, answering the front desk phone, and maintaining LGBTQ+SC space
- Attend weekly student staff meetings and meet once a week with the SEIP Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Space Facilitators
In addition to our larger commitment student worker positions, the LGBTQ+SC also hires students to facilitate our weekly programs and affinity spaces at a 2 hr/week commitment. Our weekly programs and affinity spaces are important community-building programs for either specific intersectional LGBTQ+ identities or broader, interest-based spaces open to anyone. The duties of our space facilitators include:
- Facilitating the discussion space on a weekly basis
- Pre-plan the activities, discussion topics, etc. that will occur during weekly meetings
- Ensuring participants sign in at each meeting
- Request any and all purchases of materials needed for activities in a timely manner
- Receive and implement feedback from space participants
- Other duties as assigned.
Internships
The LGBTQ+SC frequently partners with Gender and Sexuality Studies to provide internships opportunities for the Gender and Sexuality Studies internship course, SWMS 311.
